We are always happy to learn about a new support group for parents of children with special needs. These groups provide community connections and tremendous support for families facing challenges including autism, cerebral palsy, learning disabilities, blindness, deafness and other special needs.
It is easy, and free, to add your support group to our online calendar.

- Start by clicking the “Submit Your Event” button on our homepage.

- That will take you to a page where you can create an L.A. Parent account (which is free) or, if you have already created an account, where you can log in. There is also a button to click if you have created an account, but forgotten your password. After you have logged in, you can fill out the event submission form.

- Under “Event Name,” fill in the name of your group.

- Under “When,” be sure to mark the “Recurring Event” box, which will allow you to enter information for a group that meets weekly or monthly throughout the year.

- Tell us where your group meets. If your location varies, mark the “This event does not have a physical location” box and add information about meeting locations to your description.

- Add a description of your group, explaining what types of special needs you address and other information you think parents interested in your group would like to have. You do not need to include the date, time or address of your meetings here. Be sure to include your group’s website (without adding “http://”), any fees you charge, and a contact phone number.

- Under “Category,” be sure to select “Special Needs Support Group” along with any other categories that might apply to your meetings.

- Finally, upload an image. This could be a photo of your group, a photo taken at one of your group’s events, or your group’s logo if you have one. Then click the “Submit Event” button.
Once you have submitted your event, it should go live on our site within a couple of days. If you have any trouble getting your event to post, or if you have submitted an event and it is not live within 48 hours, you’re welcome to email our editor at Christina.Elston@LAParent.com for help.
